Recommenders

A recommender manages preprint evaluation. Their role is very similar to that of a journal editor (handling preprints, finding reviewers, collecting reviews, editorial decisions based on reviews), with the article eventually being recommended (or not) after several rounds of reviews. PCI Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry recommenders can recommend up to five articles per year. They are expected to comply with the code of conduct of PCI Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry, are eligible for selection as a member of the Managing Board for a period of two years, and can propose the nomination of new recommenders to the Managing Board. See the PCI Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry Guidelines for Recommenders for more information on the key roles and responsibilities.

Interested in becoming a recommender at PCI Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry?

Please contact a current recommender in your field and ask them to nominate you to the managing board or send us an email: contact@ecotoxenvchem.peercommunityin.org. We generally select people who are post PhD, conduct independent research, and have at least a handful of first author articles (to ensure people have some experience with the publishing process). PCI has signed the Joint Statement of Principles of the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communication, and we at PCI Ecotoxicology and Environmental Chemistry fully support this. We aim to have strong representation across fields of research, geographic regions, genders, and in other areas where some groups of people have been traditionally underrepresented in academia.
There is no minimum time commitment. When submitting, authors suggest recommenders, who then receive automated invitations. Recommenders can choose to accept, decline, or ignore invitations to handle the evaluation of these preprints depending on their schedule.
